Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
Goodreads rating: 4.31 stars
My Rating: 4.5 stars
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is a coming of age standalone where the main character, Aristotle or Ari, has to learn how to deal with the many things in his life from his new friendship with Dante, to finding out why his brother is in jail, to finding a way to improve his relationship with his dad. It’s about Ari finding out why he is so angry and sad all the time with the help of his new friend Dante. It’s a fantastic book with a lot of diverse and LQBT characters. There was always something happening and you never knew what really impacted the plot. It was a little slow at times but it was a great read and it went by pretty quick as well.

In Real Life by Cory Doctorow
Goodreads Rating: 3.78 stars
My Rating: 4 stars
In Real Life is a graphic novel that follows a teenage girl who has recently gotten into the world of online gaming. Online, she is a player who is fierce and strong but in real life she is shy and quiet. She struggles with her need to help people and the need to be accepted and those two interests come into conflict in the novel. It’s a standalone with a good plot and since it’s a graphic novel it is a pretty quick read. It’s worth reading and is good for getting out of a reading slump.
