Poem by Maddie Riggs
There is a ribbon
A beautiful ribbon
A ribbon that is made from the finest of Asian silkworms
This ribbon, my, it caresses my skin, my very being
It glides across me with only the intentions of soothing- taming
There is a ribbon
A ribbon of blue- nay, more midnight
A color so nearly black the naked eye would mistake simply as that
A midnight ribbon that wraps around my body like battle armor
A ribbon of confidence
My, that ribbon I do desire
A ribbon of love
A ribbon of adoration that ties itself into a knot of security and strength
A ribbon I want to wrap me up and swallow me whole
But there comes another.
There is a ribbon
A ribbon of rose red, no more scarlet, or crimson
A blood ribbon
A ribbon that wraps around my neck with a vice like grip
A ribbon that tightens its hold with every wave of anxiety
A ribbon that turns your sight its very color
A ribbon that strangles at the command of wrath
A ribbon that stings your eyes and thickens your throat
It’s a ribbon that will tear you apart if you let it
There are ribbons
So controlled by what we feel that it can destroy those whose body it claims
My God, there is a ribbon
And though I lust for blood
It is the night’s sky that I crave to enrapture me
There is a ribbon
A beautiful ribbon
A ribbon that is made from the finest of Asian silkworms
This ribbon, my, it caresses my skin, my very being
It glides across me with only the intentions of soothing- taming
There is a ribbon
A ribbon of blue- nay, more midnight

A midnight ribbon that wraps around my body like battle armor
A ribbon of confidence

A ribbon of adoration that ties itself into a knot of security and strength
A ribbon I want to wrap me up and swallow me whole
But there comes another.
There is a ribbon

A blood ribbon
A ribbon that wraps around my neck with a vice like grip
A ribbon that tightens its hold with every wave of anxiety
